Rev250 The Battle of White Plains 2026 Saturday October 24, 2026

Battle of White Plains 250th Reenactment, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Pound Ridge, New York, October 24th, 2026. On October 28, 1776, General William Howe’s army caught up with Washington at White Plains and attacked Chatterton Hill, where General Alexander McDougall held the American right with about 1,600 Continentals and militia. British and Hessian troops were thrown back on the steep slope until Colonel Johann Rall’s Hessians turned the American flank and forced McDougall’s men off the hill. Howe took the hill but not the army, and a few days later Washington withdrew north to North Castle.
