Launching Rev 250
Somers, New York April 2026
I’m Tom Musante, a fine-art photographer based in Somers, New York. For the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, I’m embarking on an ambitious photography project that captures the living, breathing humanity behind the uniforms and muskets.
This is not costume drama or staged history. Using the decisive-moment tradition of 21st-century street photography—candid, unposed, available light only—I’m documenting the tension before a reenactment, the quiet camaraderie in camp, the fatigue after a tactical, and the subtle modern intrusions that remind us these are 21st-century people passionately embodying 1776 ideals of liberty, sacrifice, and community.
My Mission
To reveal the human continuity between 1775–1776 and today through respectful, observational photography. The goal is a cohesive portfolio (aiming for 50–75 strong images, edited to 20–30 for exhibition or book) that honors the dedication of reenactors while inviting viewers to reflect: these are not actors—they are us, still carrying the living spirit of the Revolution forward in 2026.”.
Approach & Ethics
Handheld, discreet gear only. No flash, tripods, or direction.
Full compliance with unit rules, event guidelines, and authenticity.
Images will credit participating units and individuals wherever possible.
I’m happy to share select files with groups for their own archives or social media.
First Steps – Connecting with Dedicated Units With Patriots’ Day 2026 now upon us, I’ve begun reaching out to active reenacting organizations that bring the Continental Army to life with integrity and public education focus. Their 2026 schedules include demonstrations, tactical weekends, and living-history events across Connecticut and New England—ideal ground for capturing the unfiltered reality of camp life, drills, and the quiet moments in between.
I look forward to observing and documenting their contribution to the Semiquincentennial.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. The 250th is not just about remembering 1775—it’s about seeing how ordinary people today still live those ideals.
