Rev250 Escape from New-Gate — Old New-Gate Prison, East Granby, CT.
In 1773, Connecticut converted the tunnels of its first copper mine into New-Gate Prison, where deserters and suspected Loyalists were held underground in conditions so harsh the place earned the nickname "Hell." On July 25, 2026, the 5th Connecticut Regiment, in partnership with Old New-Gate Prison & Copper Mine, brought that history back to the prison yard for Escape from New-Gate — captured here as it unfolded.
